Pros

Free dog daycare, although I would not trust my dog to be kept safe here.

Cons

Negligent management, there were multiple times when I was left alone to manage both large breed yards, well over the 25 dogs/1 staff ratio. Our half hour lunch break was unpaid, but required us to remain onsite and serve any clients that walked through the door. Not only is this unreasonable during an average 11 hour work day, it is a direct violation of this area's labour laws. Floors are not properly gritted or maintained, causing them to be VERY slippery when wet (which is most of the time). During the time I worked here, I, along with other staff slipped and fell multiple times, as did some of the dogs. Shortly before I was hired, a coworker fell and broke her arm. I was injured on the job here, causing a herniated disk that required time off to heal. I was threatened with "unpaid medical leave," which is also illegal in my area and I was forced out of my employment. Management is not available for staff support, or coaching. I did not receive the canine first aid or CPR that our location advertises all staff are certified in, I did not receive training in effectively breaking up scuffles, or pack management. Dogs did get injured while I was there and almost all of them would have been preventable had staff not been overworked, exhausted, and stressed. I contacted HR after my departure because I was genuinely concerned for the welfare of the dogs and for the remaining staff. HR told me, while they had received previous reports of similar incidents at this location, they are an independent franchise so Camp Head Office is unable to intervene or respond and that my only choice was legal action. It's been three years since I left this place, but a similar review popped up on here recently and it inspired me to share my story in the hopes it might protect another enthusiastic dog lover from complete alienation from the daycare industry.
