Pros

no overtime hours, some good people

Cons

The company/management doesn't care at all about their employees. There is no company culture and all they care about is profits. HR department is a mess. If you're looking for a company that values their employees, this is not the place.

Pros

Good pay/benefit Hiring lots of fresh grad, good to be at the very young generation

Cons

favourism need to suck up to the right person hard working doesn't necessarily get paid off, just need to build relationship with the right person then you have unlimited opportunity to grow senior manager /managers all trying to suck up their own boss so don't expect someone will really back you up or 'be your mentor"

Pros

The supervisors and employees for the most part are easy to get along with, at least in the Canfor that I work in. I think that there is a fair benefits package as well as some in house benefits, like banked stats for maintenance employees who work on the weekend shift. If you are a production employee, much overtime is offered. They even offer double time for Sundays. The rate of pay may not be as much as other mills, but it is descent enough to have a good living. I also believe that Canfor offers good opportunities for their employees to upgrade with training and apprenticeships.

Cons

Canfor is a cheap company with many political flaws. You will see many signs and posts that refer or imply that they are safe. In my opinion that is just so that Canfor appears to be. I can think of many occasions where safety is swept under the rug, so to speak. Yet when the management and staff can shift blame, then it is exploited. There is definitely favourites there as well, and not talking about people who show up on time and do a good job. Rather people who have been strategically placed in positions as to manipulate and spread contention with the union members. Like lead hands. There seems to be a lot of grievances that could be easily avoided but rather are disputed to the maximum. There is division among the union members between the production and maintenance employees which is I believe to be a strategic play by management. Bullying is also a tool of management, again politically not a view that management tries to appear as.
