Pros

They do a lot of work so you have a chance to bounce around to find the type of work you are interested in (within reason).

Cons

It’s a top-heavy corporate firm, so there are a lot of higher up people that make good money, based on years with CannonDesign, but they can’t turn a computer on. I spent hundreds of hours translating hand drawn redlines and updating construction documents when all of that time and money could be saved if the first person just knew how to use modern technology. “I don’t do Revit” was a common response from these people.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're bummed to hear you felt frustrated by some of your colleagues' lack of proficiency with technology. We strive to maintain a culture of continuous learning and growth, and feedback like this is important to our growth. While expertise in Revit is important for certain roles, it's not the only skill that's necessary to design and deliver projects. Every project team member plays an important role, and these roles vary widely depending on the project's needs. That being said, we acknowledge the importance of staying current with technology and investing in our employees' professional development to ensure that everyone is able to contribute effectively. We have robust training programs in place to ensure those who need to use Revit use it to its highest capabilities. Thank you again for your feedback. We appreciate your candidness, and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

Exposure to complex and interesting projects, and high levels of independence and trust in new employees who demonstrate competence. Great support for licensure and mentoring.

Cons

The pay is below average and advancement / promotion takes too long. Many younger architects have left recently for this exact reason.

We appreciate you sharing your thoughts—though we’re bummed to read them. Leadership, work/life balance and mentorship are critical components of our culture—as is competitive compensation. We regret you didn’t see this side of CannonDesign while you were with us. Thanks again for leaving a review. Even not-so-great feedback like this is important to us.
