Laid off after 3 weeks, lack of work?
Pros
The paycheck I received for my 3 weeks. BSA Business Service Associate is an Executive Assistant.
Cons
They shouldn't provide an offer and hire someone if the employee is still essentially interviewing for the job with their client! So, rather than including their client on the interview process, Canon does the screening for their clients needs and hires on few candidates that they feel will be a good fit for the role. I received an offer letter the same day I interviewed with them! I did let them know the market had been picking up and I was interviewing with other companies. I was on a 5th interview with one company but I accepted this offer! After I sign my offer letter I'm advised I will be interviewing for 2 roles with a specific client. I was confused as to why they were calling it an interview and they explained there was plenty of work and they wanted me to meet with both to see who I would be a better fit for supporting so I thought it made sense. 🤔 In the meantime, I did all the mandatory trainings for both Canon and the client. I signed up for training courses that were offered to take up my time. My manager would let me know I should find out which I'd be supporting and they wanted me to be acclimated to the clients systems and all. By my 3rd week, I was called around 430pm on a Thursday and advised I would be let go as of the next day due to lack of work. As I could see, the work just isn't there.....this is what they told me as I stood in my room with my mouth to the floor! I am a single parent with 2 kids. I had other opportunities I could have pursued at the time. If I had known I was still interviewing I would have NEVER declined any of the other opportunities. AND all the company training is regarding ethics and how people should be treated with respect and blah blah blah.....
