      Great products but the company is losing its way and the good will of its people

      Pros

      Unquestionably great products and a huge drive from the employees to do what is right by the customer.

      Cons

      The company is still 15 years (at least) behind the industry with the IT tools and processes required to manage customers and Mif. Canon used to count on a highly loyal work force, where as now the level of dissatisfaction is ever increasing and most are looking to abandon ship. Canon UK and Europa have the most racially homogeneous work group you are likely to see. For such a large organisation, you will need some very powerful magnifying tools to spot a manager from an ethnic background. As for senior management levels and above, you will never see a coloured person featuring in any picture anywhere.

      Avoid if you are good at what you do! Not a good place to work about 10 year behind other companies

      Pros

      Very good people who are below the management level, they are focused, friendly & have a good understanding of the business without these people Canon would fall apart

      Cons

      Senior Management are a waste of space, always jobs for the boys & friends of the boys. HR are as helpful as a Chocolate teapot & are not helpful & have no understading of what is happening in the real world outside of Canon. Salary is below market value & they are presently making lots of redundancies too

      It's always difficult to respond to reviews like this. Canon emphatically wants people who are capable of bringing in new ideas, and attitudes to/methods of achieving this vary from leader to leader. We accept that more can always be done to promote internal talent. Equally, that’s not always a solution and we certainly shouldn’t be afraid to recruit different skillsets and attitudes. Regretfully, Canon has made redundancies – possibly you’re one of them - but precisely because the world outside is very different to the world of 5/10/20 years ago: These same changes are also driving significant levels of investment, recruitment and change across EMEA.
