Pros

Comprehensive healthcare benefits including medical, dental, and 401k.

Cons

Below average compensation packages. Extremely limited growth opportunities. Promotions given for length of time with company rather than performance. Poor communication among managers and staff. Very significant cultural divide between Japanese ex-pats and American employees.

Pros

Canon USA a wonderful company with advanced technology and a commitment to environmental causes. I really liked working for them and was sad to leave.

Cons

Everything was very secretive, and all decisions of any import came from the Tokyo office. It is a Japanese company through and through, with all decisions made in a Japanese (collaborative) business environment. This can be good (it is a *very* nice change from US companies, who don't consider employees at all) but it can mean things move SLOWLY.

Pros

Canon USA offers an above average benefits package which includes medical, dental and profit sharing 401K package for full time employees. While there is an above average benefit package, it lacks to meet the national average standards in salary requirements. The career advancement opportunities can be view as both positive and negative depending on each individuals point of view. Promotions are usually determined more on the years of service at the company rather than the performance being shown by the individual at his/her position. In regards to employee morale and satifaction for the company, it would be considered average.

Cons

Canon USA salaries are fairly on the low side compared to the national average. Canon USA is a japanese run company operating in the US, a fair share of the company are filled with japanese employees from Japan, at times there are cultural differences between the working methods and views on certain issues between american employees and japanese employees. The work and life balance is one sided, majority of the japanese staff average working hours is around 12 hours, this expectation is sometimes expected on the american employees. Communication style and technique between management and employees an area which need major improvements.
