PTO is not PTO.

Pros

Great opportunities to get involved with different types of projects and clients Great place to learn some skills for the next stage in your career.

Cons

Seems like most of the talent I've worked with is below their stated skill level. The "PTO" is more of a reason for them not to pay out bonus. They recently made a change to the bonus structure that causes you to lose out on the tiered bonus level if you take any time off. Oh and if you get sick, that's counted as your PTO so that will affect your bonus as well. It incentivizes people to not take vacation which is going to increase the attrition rate. Since they've switched to a bi-annual bonus structure, expect to see an exodus of talent come September after bonuses are paid. The tech market is too competitive to penalize an employee for taking time off. Not a place you'll want to spend long term.

Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts with us. As you mentioned, we are a company that takes pride in our culture of work life balance, so we want all employees to feel that they can enjoy our benefits while delivering great client work. The implementation of the bi-annual bonus was a result of our people sharing they preferred that structure, and that they placed more value on the base pay vs bonus payout. As a result, we have focused more on base compensation, and also love the increased opportunity to reward and recognize our people. If you’d like to talk about this further, I’d encourage you to contact me directly so I can learn more about your experience. -Katy Apostolides, Managing Director - HR

Thank you for your review! We’re so happy to hear you are enjoying the culture and your colleagues. We’re proud of the work our Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging council, along with our Employee Resource Groups, are doing to make sure CapTech will always be a place that people feel they can bring their whole selves to work each day. For project/product placement, we strive to have our people support client work where they are excited and feel they are growing their skill set. If you’d like to dive in a bit deeper on that topic, I’m always happy to discuss further and welcome your feedback and ideas. -Katy Apostolides, Managing Director, HR

Pros

There's a lot of things to love about CapTech. The first is the people, CapTech does a great job of hiring folks. The people I work with daily I consider friends. I know they have my back and vice versa. Second, I can give feedback upwards and it's heard. Projects can range from dull to cutting edge and I've had an opportunity to see the whole spectrum. The common denominator is that leadership is willing to hear feedback and make adjustments. In my experience, we've walked away from a few clients who's work pipeline look bleak. I'd be lying if I claimed it was all cutting edge projects, there's staff aug roles at times, but it's usually with the intention of growing the account into more product based work. People are generally humble. At the end of the day, it's a company of people that generally like hanging out with each other. As someone who's both a not-white and experienced the Big 4 consulting, I feel welcome and valued at CapTech more so than I did at my prior employers.

Cons

Consulting is not for everyone. Hours can be long and there are certainly crunch times. That's the nature of the industry. Pay is slightly under industry average. I have friends with the same level of experience and role who make more. I stick around for the people

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We couldn’t agree with you more that our people really do stand out as one of the best parts of CapTech. We are humbled to work among such talented individuals, and it is our top priority to ensure our people are cared for and feel supported on their career journey. Thank you for your advice. We agree there is a need to find ways to reconnect across the firm. As restrictions (hopefully) continue to lift, having in-person gatherings again will get easier and more comfortable for everyone. Meanwhile, we are open to hearing recommendations as we try to stay connected virtually. We thank you for your contributions as a CapTecher and hope you enjoy a fulfilling career with us for years to come. – Katy Apostolides, HR Director
