Pros

There are some great people at Capco

Cons

Promotions and performance ratings are too strict. You have people working super hard, contributing lots, and still getting passed-off for promotions. This leads to many people leaving Capco, which adds more cost recruitment and on-boarding cost to Capco. This also negatively impacts the morale and motivation of current Capco employees.

Thank you for your review. It is correct to say that we have a robust performance review and promotion process to ensure all colleagues receive a fair assessment and have the opportunity to develop and progress within the firm. As you will know we offer two promotion cycles per year to allow colleagues the opportunity to move up to the next level once they meet the promotion criteria, regardless of tenure. However, promotions are only one of the ways in which we recognize and reward outstanding performance, and in order for someone to be promoted we need to ensure that they fully meet the promotion criteria so that they are set up for success and are able to deliver at the next level. That said, we have continued to promote many colleagues who meet the promotion criteria over the past few years, even during the more challenging periods of the pandemic and economic downturn, when many of our competitors paused promotions. Awful company

Pros

- They give you decent laptops and smartphones - Number of annual leaves

Cons

It's hard to find words to explain how bad this company is. - They try to cheat you on the salary. When I was recruited, the salary was below my expectations. The recruiter told me that it was possible to get "a fast promotion". What a fake promise. Needless to say that after I started working for Capco, a promotion was never mentioned again. Even the salary increases were abnormally low (less than 1% per year), despite being on project and billable for Capco. - Capco is not a consulting firm. It's a bodyshop for HSBC, with an extra-thick layer of marketing BS to make it look like a consulting firm. You will be sold to HSBC to fill in the least interesting roles in HSBC (the roles for which they find nobody). You will stay there until HSBC doesn't need you anymore, and after that Capco will fire you. - Most projects are messy, because the Capco managers sell messy projects to make their sales numbers, and Capco just cares about sales numbers and doesn't really care about delivery quality. - Many Capco managers have no people management skills. They have been appointed just because they have certain relationships or because they are good at boot licking. - You will be constantly flooded by emails, messages, mandatory trainings, asks and requests from both HSBC and Capco. - In addition to your client project, Capco asks you to work and participate in Community Activities (ie internal projects and initiatives). It is true that this is an opportunity to meet and connect with your Capco colleagues, but unfortunately 90% of these projects are BS. People launch superficial initiatives to promote themselves and lick the boots of Capco leadership. - Capco APAC leaders say that the company is growing by +30%, but Capco has been firing lots of consultants in 2023, so I don't think the company is doing well now. - Performance reviews and promotions are BS. All based on relationships and boot licking.

We are very disappointed to read your perspective of Capco. We regularly undertake a salary benchmarking exercise to ensure that the compensation we offer is in line with the market to attract and retain the best talent. We also run twice-yearly promotion cycles, so if an employee meets the promotion criteria, they can be put forward for consideration for promotion to the next level. Lots of employees opt to get involved in Community activity at Capco which is an opportunity for them to follow a passion and develop skills and knowledge in an area they may not typically encounter in their day-to-day role, for example, our diversity, equity, and inclusion agenda or learning and development activities. A specific percentage of the overall performance assessment is directly linked to Community, which ensures that where an individual has made a contribution, this is recognized and rewarded. However, the majority of the performance assessment is always weighted towards performance in the individual’s core role. As a people business, we care deeply about our people, and our Be Yourself At Work culture is about creating an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can fulfil their potential. This extends to the work that we undertake and the resourcing of projects as our goal is always to offer interesting roles aligned to an individual’s career aspirations. As a leading global technology and management consultancy, Capco has a portfolio of prestigious clients and projects right across the financial services sector and, in the APAC region, our client portfolio has never been wider. Our consultants are involved in delivering end-to-end data-driven solutions and digital initiatives for banking and payments, capital markets, wealth and asset management, insurance, and the energy sector. The demand for consulting services did moderate somewhat due to the economic climate, which unfortunately resulted in us parting company with a number of employees on the bench in HK. However, the outlook for our APAC business is healthy, and as you may have heard at the January Town Hall, there are exciting growth plans in place for the region in FY25. If you would like to discuss your feedback further, or seek support with your career development at Capco, you are encouraged to reach out to your HR Business Partner or Coach.
