Micro Managing

Pros

Met alot of cool people

Cons

I use to be a branch manager for 2 banks and if this is what CarMax calls a manager that is a joke. If writing and posting huddles and asking about numbers is all you do that is not management at all. You are a copy paste robot telling a pod what the expectations are. They terminated me for doing some 3 day investigation cause i wasn't making outbound calls. I made more outbound calls then not and had valid reasons for not calling cx back. They don't care they monitor your screen and watch your every move. hence the micro managing. Feel bad for these managers and senior managers that only know the CarMax way and never seen the other side of the gates.

Pros

You get plenty of customers and have the opportunity to make a decent wage.

Cons

If a customer “starts their journey” online , you automatically lose half the commission even if they basically did nothing. Also the culture of diversity and inclusion is constantly being shoved down your throat with “required training” that is politically driven.

Pros

Flexible time off. Good perks for Club Level (if you can get in)

Cons

Company has taken away everything from floor store sales consultant that made the job meaningful and more than being an "order taker." I use to work with a customer from start to finish in selecting a vehicle, sometimes working with them for multiple days or weeks. I was the face of the company and I knew my customer and they knew me. I was paid accordingly. Now, once I meet a customer they have already spoken to multiple other consultants at a remote call center (while thinking they were speaking to people in the local store). Usually much of my time is spent going back and correcting misinformation that the call center has given them. It is not necessarily the Call Center consultants fault, they are working with a constant stream of people in many different states with different regulations. They cant know it all. ***Now I spend roughly the same amount of time with a customer and get paid half of what I was before.***
