The interview did not warn me that this was a telemarketing job. This has nothing but cold calling and more cold calling. The management is atrocious, and there is next to no room for growth.
Like others have said, it depends on the team you were placed on. I had the misfortune of being placed on a team with an incompetent manager. There was outright favoritism and excessive micromanagement of employees to the point where it felt like I being watched by Big Brother. Quizzes, finals and daily journals were forced, along with logging what time we left to do what.
Carahsoft likes people they can mold, not people that can think for themselves. They don't place much value on employees because they know when one leaves, another will replace it. The influx of freshly graduated college students will never end. As you spend more time here, you begin to justify the terrible treatment, falsely letting yourself believe that this is what the professional world is like. It's not till you leave Carahsoft that you truly understand what adults are treated like in a professional environment. The fact that this place doesn't have an HR and there's more beer than you know what to do with is a joke.
Best advice is to learn everything you can for one year and leave. The information you can learn here and the access to all new types of technology is very valuable. It will help in your future career endeavors and help land a job that pays a livable salary, unlike this company.
