Pros

I worked at CardWorks as a Fraud Investigations Team Leader for nearly 3 years. I came to this company because I’d heard the culture was better compared to where I was before — and in some ways, it was. The best part of my experience was my team. They were the reason I stayed as long as I did. I dedicated my time, effort, and patience to helping them succeed, and when you find peers who genuinely support you, that’s gold. The company offered some perks like the Hinge Health app and Wellbeats for self-care and work-life balance, and working from home was convenient. The pay for leadership was reasonable, although frontline agents deserved better for the constant demands they faced. ► Some peers truly root for your success. ► Certain wellness perks like health apps for self-care. ► Remote work (though this wasn’t enough to outweigh other issues)

Cons

If you’re okay with being overworked, micromanaged, and having your intelligence regularly insulted, you’ll be fine. Otherwise, be prepared — your team might make it worth it for a while, but the overall culture may not. ► Training was almost non-existent for my first year and lacked depth when finally established. ► Cliques and “mean girl” dynamics — if you weren’t in the boss’s circle, you felt it. ► Communication was poor and contradictory, with senior leaders often bypassing team leaders entirely and creating confusion. ► Culture of scapegoating — leaders were written up for gaps in training they could prove weren’t covered, but documentation didn’t matter if someone needed to take the fall. ► Heavy workloads, slow systems, and everything was “top priority; "all hands-on deck” all the time — no breathing room. ► Pay for agents could be better given the workload and constant changes. ► End-of-year reviews didn’t align with job titles — Level I agents were evaluated as Level IIs without adequate training or role clarity.

Reliable place to work

Pros

I feel like the people directly around you really care. Benefits are decent, though the health insurance is difficult to deal with. Raises and bonuses are fairly described and based on performance. The work is fine. PTO is decent and increases with tenure. They care about DEI.

Cons

Health insurance is a smaller company that uses the Aetna network, so medical providers often say I'm not covered and then I have to have them try again. The insurance company is impossible to get accurate information from when you call. I often feel like the leaders at the very top of the company are not aware of the work done by lower level employees. Once you reach a certain level, there are fewer opportunities for advancement.

We truly appreciate you sharing such comprehensive feedback about your experience at CardWorks. It's wonderful to hear that you feel genuine support and care from your direct team, which is a testament to the collaborative environment we strive to build. We're also glad to know our PTO program and performance-based raises and bonuses are clear and valued, and that our DEI commitment resonates. We sincerely regret the difficulties you've experienced with our health insurance provider. Navigating healthcare coverage should be straightforward, and we understand your frustration. We are constantly reviewing all aspects of our benefits to ensure they provide the best possible support for our team. Your insights regarding leadership awareness of day-to-day work and advancement opportunities at higher levels are also very important to us. We are committed to fostering clear communication channels and ensuring all employees feel recognized for their contributions. We continuously work to provide meaningful career paths and growth opportunities across all levels of the organization.
