      They have an adequate benefits structure.

      Cons

      Recently ended pension for tenured staff, more focused on the environment than health care, failed venture into DC Medicaid market, top down and authoritarian leaders, recent loss of ten turned leadership. Not focused on core business more focused on new ventures wasting company assets.

      IT is a mess

      Pros

      Great company culture. Benefits you won't find anywhere else. If you work anywhere outside of IT you will probably love the work you do and the direction the company is going.

      Cons

      Bottoms-up approach can mean executive leadership does not have much direction. IT side of carefirst has been a mess the past several years with a lot of turnover in upper level management. Because of the lack of direction in IT, career growth can be stunted especially for mid-senior level positions. Salary compensation seems to be below average for the industry
