Pros

Benefits and experience. Having on resume is good for other employers.

Cons

Customer service dept is not a great place to work. they do not care for the employees only the work being done. The Hr and management will never be on your side, if you report an issue that will work against you. they do not like outspoken people and will get rid of you if you have to much to say.

Pros

It's a great stepping stone into insurance because they have the BlueCross BlueShield name. It opens up a lot of doors and opportunities to other companies including competitors and brokerage firms. They offer decent benefits but I wouldn't say they were generous by any means. My manager was great but he was new and came from a different carrier.

Cons

Underwriting is under staffed, over worked, and under paid with unrealistic expectations. The turn around for employees is high; it seemed someone would quit ever two months or so. The only people that stick around are the people that have been there for 10-15 plus years and work loads are catered to the senior members. It felt like everything was based on how long you've been with the company; pay, promotions, etc. High work load with little time, mostly due to system issues. They have the same problems every month and nothing gets fixed. There are serious disconnects within the company with poor communication from department to department. The work culture is terrible and there is a lack of structure with little to no SOPs.

Pros

some departments allow work from home, they have good benefits.

Cons

no room for upward growth, very management top heavy, extreme micromanagement, excessive work expectations, hard to take time off due to "coverage" issues. Passive aggressive.
