I was lied to about OTE... sold a dream in the interviewing process. 'OTE is $135,000 with a base of $75k,' meaning, $60,000 is what I could expect in commission if I hit 100% to goal over the course of the year. Sounds great, right? Until I started, and two months in I inquired about how commission worked. My Director hoped in a 1:1 call with and prefaced with (and I quote) 'don't panic, the numbers you're about to see are unattainable, we don't expect anyone to hit them... they're just like this because of the hopeful upcoming merger' (I also was not made aware of this coming merger in the interview process) she then shows me that the MONTHLY targets for this team were $300k PER MONTH. For reference, our team of 5 is barely breaking $150-200k per month collectively. The commission of $5,000 per month ($300k / 12) is based on the rep hitting $300k per month... on average, reps are hitting $50k per month. There is absolutely no way to make $60k in commission annually... it was a blatant lie. For reference, a rep sold an $80k deal, and only made $700ish in commission off of it.
In addition to being lied to, and having the merger omitted from my interview process... they do not set their sales reps up for success. You will go through a generic training (the trainer is fantastic, this isn't a him problem) but nothing specific to your role. No pricing training, no 'how to build a contract' training, etc. I didn't have access to some programs until 2-3 months into my employment. I wasn't able to send contracts until about 4 months in because of issues with how my accounts were set up...
5 months into my employment, I FINALLY started getting inbound leads... while the rest of the team (less one person who started a month after me) got 4-5 of them a week (the words of one of those reps getting them). Those reps getting those leads hardly worked their SalesForce accounts, hardly had any outbound calls, because these leads fell into their laps, and that's where 95% of their sales came from. Meanwhile, myself and a newer rep were getting zero, and were expected to make outbound calls to 'find deals.' I don't mind outbound work - I came from a high velocity role where I made 100ish calls per day; however, their data is horrific. Majority are wrong numbers, out of business, bad phones, etc. Being told 'no one cares about SalesForce but you' while I tried to clean it up with all the duplicates, the accounts not in my name that should've been, putting in the correct information, was insane.
Another sales rep who started after me (with zero sales), and put in his two weeks notice was 'walked' (his day of notice was his last day) and was paid for the two weeks notice even though he was not required to work. I did the same, and was told my last day of pay was the day I gave notice. The ONLY difference between myself and this rep, was I started BEFORE him, I had sales, he did not... and he is a man. I asked HR about it, first response was 'the teams needs were different' which was irrelevant because he no longer was working, when I said that, their response turned into 'oh they must be mistaken' - which, I've spoken to this rep directly, to confirm... then turned into 'it's decided on a case by case basis.' Which is it?
They are refusing to pay out my 57 hours of PTO, claiming Maryland does not require it - yet... it does, unless explicitly noted otherwise in the company handbook, and they are required to specify this at hiring.
They have removed everything from my Work Day account, so I cannot see ANY HR documents that I signed, no employee handbook, etc. all was removed except my paystubs. HR has since stopped responding to my emails.
As far as the CEO? Gaslight central. Swore no layoffs were coming with the Monster merger, and lo and behold 2 days after I give my notice, an email goes out informing people of layoffs happening same day.
