Pros

- Compassion with personal issues their employees may have. - Growth opportunities and consistent on-going training on the product as well as employee professional development topics. - Very fair compensation with regular industry salary reviews to match our competitors. - Fully remote employment, so no wasted time on commuting. - Very responsive HR Team, especially when you need hardware, supplies or any other support. - Unlimited time off. This isn't a company that says they offer "unlimited time off" but really mean "Ummm, this is a metaphorical benefit. Don't think you can take vacation time when ever you request it because we are too understaffed. to support the workload unless we have all hands on deck". Leadership monitors and hires based on department/team staffing needs, so if you request time off, you can feel confident that your responsibilities will be covered and our leaders want you to be able to relax and enjoy your time away from work. - Proactive managers who genuinely care about helping you work towards achieving your professional goals. MOST OF ALL, working with a caring group of people you respect, trust, and admire, that you'd want to hang out with because they're so fun to be around.

Cons

The rate of growth in the client base and the rate of change in the platform features can be daunting. However, the clients appreciate that CareerPlug acknowledges their pain points and are willing to update the system to address theirs concerns whenever possible.

Pros

Some really great coworkers, and everyone is very happy to help, collaborate, and answer questions. Also, remote work is a plus.

Cons

There isn't much opportunity to grow here. If you're entry-level, there may be opportunities to reach a mid-level position, but positions beyond that are scarce. The company often pushes you to take on responsibilities outside your role. You'll be doing the job of the next position without the promotion. If a new role does open up or someone quits, it often goes to someone externally who is friends with management or has worked with them at a previous company. Developing products here can be challenging. The codebase is legacy, and parts are significantly outdated. This alone isn't a huge problem, but cleaning up technical debt is rarely prioritized. Instead, you'll frequently shift to whatever feature or change is currently the flavor of the month, as product focus changes often. One month, your work might be the company's top priority, involving stress and unnecessary micromanagement. The next month, another project takes priority, and yours is forgotten and added to a pile of abandoned initiatives. Additionally, processes frequently change. Leadership regularly introduces entirely new processes every few months, causing confusion and reducing productivity as coworkers spend significant time figuring out current processes and what has been abandoned. You'll spend more time adjusting to new ways to communicate your projects and their status than actually working on your projects. Lastly, salaries for tech roles are on the lower end.

Thank you for sharing your experience; I'm sorry you did not experience the growth culture we pride ourselves on! Keep Growing is one of our values and we've operationalized that in many ways -- including professional development dollars, an in-house Growth & Development Manager who works directly with employees, and growth plans that are reviewed with employees quarterly to help outline next steps to reach their goals. While there is not always a position available for upward mobility, we support employees to help them develop skills for future roles either at CareerPlug or in their next chapter. Last year, 21% of employees received title-change promotions and the majority of employees received merit-based increases in their roles, separate from market adjustments that we evaluate annually (90% of the company received a market adjustment this year). Out of the management positions we hired for last year, 80% were filled by internal employees. In fact, 70% of our people managers across the organization were promoted into that role from individual contributor seats and have grown as leaders at CareerPlug. We appreciate the contributions of every employee, past and present, and wish you the best in your next chapter!
