Pros

A lot of smart people. Strong market positions in just about everything they do.

Cons

Very insular. Very siloed internally. Policies, organizational style differ business to business.

Pros

The best thing about working for Cargill was their patience and ability to train up new employees from college. Their intern program is one of the better ones I've seen and has a real sense of community.

Cons

Always looking to cut costs as they have slim margins which makes salaries fairly weak for the first couple of years. However, you do learn a lot.

Cargill provided a sufficient opportunity for career advancement, growth, and has a willingness and flexibility to innovate. While generally a commodity oriented company, Cargill realizes growth is key to its future creating more market and customer facing businesses and products.

Cons

Pay is not as competitive in other B2B type businesses
