Pros

Many opportunities to learn and grow. Good benefits. Flexible work arrangements available for some positions.

Cons

Lack of trust is a constant among management. While there is opportunity to take on more work and cross train, these efforts are rarely rewarded. Cargill managers strategically plan with excellence, however there is a large gap between the ideas and tactical action.

Pros

Lots of opportunities to be a global citizen and see the world. Can change units and learn an entirely different business without leaving the company. Privately held so can make longer-term decisions.

Cons

They haven't figured out how to retain employees in a commodity business, when companies like google and Facebook have true employment value propositions. The value used to be in lifetime employment, but they are making short-sighted decisions.
