Pros

Cargill is a very large, stable, well diversified company. There are a lot of opportunities for advancement and you can redirect your career without leaving the company. Their benefits are very good, some of the best in the industry. This is a company with very high integrity and they live out their values, not just talk about them.

Cons

There's a lot of bureaucracy and corporate red tape. The organization moves painfully slowly. All the resources in the world are completely useless if you can't move quickly enough to take advantage of opportunities. Compensation in most cases is below average. Senior leadership, a traditional strength of the company, has gotten worse in recent years. In general, corporate culture is a strength but it varies widely by location and business unit with some very unhealthy corporate cultures allowed to continue in some locations.

Pros

Lots of opportunities for growth. Good benefits, educational reimbursement 401k, pension plan. Most leadership is proactive and easy to work with

Cons

Company is always changing policy, lots of off shoring of US jods. Pay raises are few and far between. Sometimes hard to advance

Uneven corporate culture

Pros

Company that bears down and does great work. Very practical company that is proud of its heritage and mission to feed the world. As a private company, it is surprising how big and international the company really is. Great benefits and great work/life balance.

Cons

Company is built up from seventy business units, with the number fluctuating every few months through M&A and divestitures. This leads to a very uneven corporate culture and thus a lot of businesses aren't bought into a single Cargill entity. Corporate culture tends to be very inward looking and so changes can take a long time to happen.
