Pros

The company is family owned, family members are represented fully on the board, previous CEO now CSO, QC Supervisor amongst others. Taiwanese mentality regarding cost savings, pinch every penny until it bleeds. Continuous monitoring of staff by computers, and close caption tv, so it keeps you on your toes. It’s a paid check, even if it’s not market value. Work life balance is good, they unarm the doors at 7:45 and arm it at 5 pm. They produce cost effective alternative to branded products.

Cons

Everyone in organization is homegrown, some have grown up with the original parent company in Taiwan, others it’s first job out of college. The graduates want to learn and understand, but the organization does not allow for it, with experience people will leave. Employees are just a cog without opportunity to learn, without career growth. There is nothing new, no understanding of current trends, no understanding of best practices, ignorance is bliss, but at least you have a job. This to most people who have been a part of the organization is fine, as prefer not want to learn and will fight opportunities to learn. Chairman of the Board, claims to want proactive thinkers to challenge current practices, his action shows otherwise that he is happy with mucking of the swamp, being regarded and not challenged. They have not had any new products for quite some time. Product in the pipeline, will eat away at current sales, needless to say poor planning and no business strategy. But you get $35 and some change to brand and market a product line. Lucky you. Customers do not trust the organization, when demand is high, prices go up extremely high, when demand is low, prices hit rock bottom taking double digit losses. Buying product from the organization is considered too risky by most customers and does not want to be held hostage.

Pros

Overall clean laboratory environment. At least no matter what, they want you to leave at 5 or you have to activate/deactivate their security system

Cons

- Chinese company that is divided into the taiwanese group and cantonese group, it wouldn't take long for someone to notice that during meetings, if the director is cantonese, he will talk to cantonese people in cantonese even though some other people present do not understand it. The upper management is definitely divided and trying to gather their "own" to the company - never knew how working for a chinese company is until now, it's more like serving jail time, they expect you to be sticking your butt to the chair even if you have nothing to do, they'd rather you PRETEND you have something to do. Think about it, there's no lunch room, office area has microwave and sink, you are expected to do everything by your desk or in the lab - no privacy what's so ever, they block any social media websites, not that I encourage anybody to go on facebook while working, but even if you go on to your personal gmail, they will read and track all your e-mails, so heads up, do not use their computers for anything - no flexibility for break time, even if you are in the middle of doing something, they would urge you to take a break first, even though it makes more sense to quickly just finish what you have on hand first - small company and everyone pays DETAILED attention to what you are doing, it is as if they don't have anything other to do other than counting the time you go to the bathrooms or get out to stretch - although people finish work early in the laboratories, no one can leave early and no one is willing to go back to the office area so their managers know they finished, but rather, everyone just stays in the labs and kill time by swiping on their phones - slow training, hard to learn, you are given a repeatable task every day for months before you even acknowledge some other instruments existed - their planning of things are horrible, I spent the whole entire first week sitting their and stare at a blank monitor - limited career growth, people has been leaving quite a lot since there's no career growth and complicated management style - people look like they are stressed out, or i think they are just trying to pick out anything you do wrong
