I get a great paycheck, but I live at the Mill.
Pros
Great Pay. Decent benefits. 1950's style work environment for production workers. Laid back production work in many of the departments.
Cons
Cartech is much too focused on their stock price than anything else. More than safety. More than quality. If Cartech's premium products are in a relatively low competition environment, then why court the stock market? Wouldn't the product sell itself? Wouldn't the brand sell itself? People will come regardless. Currently the company is being run by a bunch of ice-cold, heartless, number crunchers. Many employees have left the company because of ill-treatment. The company is also being managed poorly by middle management. Training is being cut in half, or more. Hundreds of experienced workers with 20-30 years experience have left in the past 2 years and management doesn't care about the loss of experience. Why? You guessed it, they're saving money. Then there's safety. Safety only matters after men get hurt, then the company reacts. Very minimal proactive safety programs. Lastly, there's overworked employees. As a result of being overworked, and working 7 days a week, many of the employees are divorced. This has been a problem for years. Is there really no other alternative to working 7 days a week? If upper management really cares about employees, they wouldn't treat them like a hot pile of crap.
