Not bad, but not the best.

Pros

You will work with some of the most knowledgeable tax team members around.

Cons

Every second of your time will have to be justified, even when they won’t provide the work for you. Very controlling environment and you have to watch what you say even in casual conversation with certain people.

Pros

good pay, plus paid overtime

Cons

Get too many conflicting answers to the same project. Having to report every minute of your time which should be billable. Too much back stabbing. Unrealistic time quotas for certain jobs. Senior CAS members have their own way of preparing reports etc somewhat differently and the new CAS member will get a hit even if they prepare a report like one CAS Trainer told them to and the other doesn't do it that way.

Pros

It’s public accounting. I left only because a awesome opportunity presented itself that I could not refuse. I was planning on being there much longer to grow under a great team of experienced and knowledgeable accountants. You may not like everyone but if you have an open mind and know that you will have to work hard then you will get rewarded. You have to make friends and seek evaluation of your work constantly. This is just key for any job because everyone is busy. They have the mentor meeting that if done right are great. For me that worked out well. I also asked senior team members how things were going and how others were doing so that I knew where I was and where I can improve. This who go into a high paced field must accept that you will have to be competitive at all time. In CRIs way you have flexibility to take time off at random. Sometimes not as easy for actual vacations but that is primarily my fault for not planning. I think that New Orleans office is among the best at CRI, but that means you have to work hard to move up and speak up for yourself if you think need something. The partners really want to help because if everyone is good it makes their life easier.

Cons

If you don’t like hard work then any public accounting place is for you. You have to see what you want and try not to take on more than you can handle as you move up and are given choices.
