Pros

- okayish wages compared to other nearby jobs - its a job

Cons

- always understaffed - nothing works half the time and corporate refuses to fix many things - no breaks unless you have ADA - good luck ever trying to take a sick day - outdated and klunky trendar system that everyone hates and that Casey's refuses to update

The way you're treated

Pros

Higher up you get, better pay you get.

Cons

They will work you so much you're barley able to function, depending on the location you're at you'll have to pick up the slack for others. My manager will yell at me while I'm doing my job duties and they sit in the office and do books yet I can get them done in about an hour and that's between helping customers. I was told when I started my new position in Assistant management that I would be trained, that has yet to happen.. and they'll work you 7 days a week if they could.

Okay Job for Side Income

Pros

EASY WORK Whether you're on register, in kitchen, or in cooler, the work is basic and simple. A 12 year old could do it. DECENT PEOPLE Most of the people keep to themselves and don't annoy you unless you annoy them. Management does answer questions about the job and most coworkers will show you how to do something if you're having trouble. DECENT PAY Illinois minimum wage is $14/hour, which makes it worth your time. You get time and a half pay on certain holidays.

Cons

NO CAREER GROWTH You will get basic cross-training across the register and kitchen, but might end up only on register or only in kitchen because management thinks you are best suited to work in that position. UNRELIABLE INCOME If you want more than 20 hours a week, you will have to be available from 3 AM to midnight, or be ready and willing to cover for people who call off sick. If you want to work reasonable hours, you will get between 10 and 25 hours a week. FAST-PACED Sometimes it will only be two people in the store- one at register and one in the kitchen. Many orders will come in and you will have to scramble to keep up, while doing dishes and keeping the warmers full. You won't get breaks unless you eat during slow periods, or if someone is kind enough to cover for you while you run to the restroom. LAZY PEOPLE Depending on who you're working with, you can either have someone who works alongside you, or someone who leaves to smoke or chat with customers. People do not follow the rules, but don't complain because management is too busy working themselves sick.
