Poor Leadership and Work Life Balance

Pros

fair pay for the area middle management and lower level employees are fantastic

Cons

leadership at the director level is atrocious and abusive everyday, something is rushed and results in poor quality work, disgraceful culture, and a multitude of ethical and legal violations most days, I don't even have time to go to the bathroom, after working multiple 12+ hour days, let alone take any breaks- this is consistent across all departments director level leaders lack knowledge to do their job; they delegate and do not support the next levels down, retaliate/yell/blame/abuse their teams below them a consistent issue is the director level blaming each other or more often, someone lower level, for their slip ups. I've heard on more than 10 occasions a rendition of: "if you wanted that done, you should have reminded me more. i'm very busy and important and don't have time to attend the meeting about this topic so that's your fault for not telling me more often." the lack of accountability is mind blowing. you expect some politics in a corporate environment but the gang that has developed at the director level is toxic, creating a toxic environment.

Catalent's "Patient First" culture is a joke

- Pay is good but not good enough for dealing with the management

Cons

Catalent has no respect for their employees time or their lives outside of work. They show no consideration for the patients on the receiving end of their product. Originally the inspection team's longest stretch of consecutive working days without a break was 48 hours divided into four 12-hour shifts. They did a large layoff and when they couldn't fill our contracts they had their inspection team working 11 days straight. These stretches totaled to 116 hours-132 hours, depending on whether we chose 8 hour or 12 hour shifts for our four OT days. A multitude of employees brought up that this schedule was a problem and they were promptly ignored. It was mentioned that this schedule not only hurt the employees but also that the fatigue caused by these long shifts could potentially be a risk to patients on the receiving end, these objections were also ignored. Catalent is not a place to work for if you value your own autonomy and integrity.

Just Awful

Pros

-Brilliant, caring coworkers. I can honestly say this place provided me with the best coworkers I have ever had in any job. It's likely due to the misery we endured together, but I made many lifelong friends here. -I grew more as a scientist here than anywhere else (though this is due to being thrown into situations I was completely unprepared for and forcing myself to adapt).

Cons

-Safety has a shotgun approach. They want to address everything equally, whether it's a serious engineering control deficiency or a spill on the ground. -Management has zero clue how long lab activities take. Expect long, grueling hours. -Your mental health will suffer. Lots of analysts I worked with developed anxiety, depression, and burnout due to the heavy toll Catalent places on you. Do you like being kept in a constant state of fight or flight to the point of adrenal fatigue? Then this is the place for you! -Just read the other reviews here. Notice how all the 5 star reviews are vague? Catalent astroturfs the reviews here to boost their ratings. -The pay is abysmal. -Management lies and plays games with the employees. Do not trust a word they say. They will dangle promotions in front of you and never deliver... but the moment you get an offer elsewhere they suddenly find money and promotions that just magically appeared! You want a promotion, you need to be willing to call their bluff. TL;DR: Working here had a serious, long-term, negative impact on my life. Proceed with extreme caution. Show them no loyalty because the will surely show you none.
