Pros

Some of the supervisors are okay.

Cons

Very low pay, weak benefits, rules and regulations that do not make sense and conflict with the client's rules.

Pros

Depending on where you work the fellow teachers as well as supervisors can be good. Most supervisors acknowledge how ridiculous Catapult's policies are and how inept corporate is and will give you some leeway. Hourly pay in my area was quite good.

Cons

Corporate has weaved itself an absolute mess of counterproductive rules and procedures. Supervisors on location and teachers are given no leeway to teach based on what would be best for their students. Nobody can make an actual decision because they have go up 6 levels of corporate hierarchy to change anything. People at the top are fighting each-other for power and constantly pulling-rank. It's actually surprising how utterly stupidly Catapult runs its company; everybody in my school could acknowledge a problem, realize an easy fix, and yet couldn't do anything about it. This will manifest for you as soon as you're hired. After confirming all my paperwork and being told I was going to be assigned to a school shortly I was met with radio silence. For 3 weeks NOBODY responded to any of emails or phone calls questioning what was going on. They ignored my emails for weeks until I got a call at 9:30 PM on July 4th telling me I could work at a school in Staten Island and I'd be starting the next morning. This was not unique to me, I was shocked to hear that most of the teachers I worked with also went through this. If you're wondering how this company stays afloat I'd say it's because NY State handed them $100 million after Covid and I'm sure other states did as well.
