      Pros

      Great environment if you want to relaxed work life balance and have a young family. Caterpillar is a great place for people who have a “work to live” not “live to work” mentality. You will have a great deal of personnel freedom and a flexible schedule. Great benefits for salaried employees.

      Cons

      Poor management. Highly political environment if you want to advance. Promotion is based more on politics and networking then merit. Cat values conformity above initiative. Based on your personality this can be a positive or negative.

      Pros

      You meet lots of people from all sorts of job backgrounds.

      Cons

      Contract employees are expected to perform at the same level as regular Caterpillar employees but are denied equivalent pay and benefits. Constantly being asked to do more work without any kind of recognition or compensation. Poor communication issues throughout the whole company. Management can often be soley foucused on their own growth rather than on the people who report to them.

      work/life balance benefits package interesting work caterpillar looks good on resume

      Cons

      Global Mining Division is in very poor condition employees dissatisfied with management caterpillar cares too much about stock holders with no bonus to employees as result stuck in old/large company mindset with no innovation or tolerance for new ideas
