Caterpillar is a pretty well paying job but...

Cons

The environment is awful, you get threatened to be walked out and they use that as a scare tactic. You may work as a supplemental employee (no benefits, no paid time off), for up to two years before being hired on by CAT, or laid off. Union dues are taken out of your check even tho you are not represented by the union until you are a CAT employee.

Pros

Good pay and benefits, GREAT people!

Cons

No longer value manufacturing; Very poor decision making when cost cutting needed; Company is more stockholder friendly, but no longer the company it once was for employees. Corporate goal was to become like the rest of the industry, and it has unfortunately done so.
