Very stable, reliable job security.

Cons

Good old boy club. Expect to be passed up by less qualified coworkers who have better connections than you. If you do not have family members on the inside, your career outlook will suffer. Pay is very low compared to other firms.

Pros

Everyone is nice, the work is fun. They have rotational development programs for many positions, and encourage employees to take classes on topics that are relevant to their job.

Cons

Peoria is not very exciting, and it is the largest "city" that Caterpillar has a facility in. For people just starting out from college, the lack of things to do could be a problem.
