Pros

Working level employees are nice. Pay is good for management positions.

Cons

Upper management is focused on themselves and not the personal development of the people. Caterpillar no longer offers a pension plan. As a result, there's no incentive for employees to work there long term. Engineering is now considered a commodity and is being progressively outsourced overseas.

Pros

I learned a lot and have a great deal of valuable experience from working at Cat.

Cons

Very still old style management. Company leaders do not care about long term growth only the short term stock price. They just laid off a ton of very experienced engineers. Their competitors are picking them up like crazy.
