Pros

Union backed, decent starting pay, good benefits, cheap insurance, cheap parking, community hospital, easy advancement. Great place to get your foot in the door and gain experience

Cons

It's a union hospital so promotions are based on seniority and not merit. Also lack of security or enforcement of safety policies. Mercy Hospital is open to community and people are free to wonder to the third floor subway or Tim norton show in lobby with no security check

Easy to get hired if you have a good personality.

Cons

The older people who are not certified (yet have 18+ years experience) are mean and nasty to new employees. Then they try to sabotage the work that bye employees do. Management can't solve ignorance... the pay is at least $3.00/hr. less then any area hospitals. Retention is extremely LOW due to these factors. No one wants to be around miserable people and not get paid well. The persons with least seniority are 10 months in, and the other is 3 years (but he's part time).

great people at the floor level that really care about their patients, pension and 403B, plenty of overtime available

Cons

expensive health insurance, continually short staffed, money hungry people at the top, appear to be more concerned with money than having appropriate supplies or adequately taking care of patients, no one in senior management appears to live the mission
