Pros

Union backed, decent starting pay, good benefits, cheap insurance, cheap parking, community hospital, easy advancement. Great place to get your foot in the door and gain experience

Cons

It's a union hospital so promotions are based on seniority and not merit. Also lack of security or enforcement of safety policies. Mercy Hospital is open to community and people are free to wonder to the third floor subway or Tim norton show in lobby with no security check

Pros

Decent pay if you stay employed long term. Benefits ok-expensive. Most coworkers are easy to get along with and work hard, genuinely care about patients.

Cons

Short staffed on daily basis. Unsafe/unfair floating. Favoritism causes problems among staff. Higher ups drive for higher ratings causes stress on staff. If you are good worker more expected out of you. Allow employees with poor work ethic to stay causing good employees to leave. Overtime not given out fairly-if your friends with higher up the more overtime they get. Outdated equipment.

Pros

Good benefits; clean environment, fair pay.

Cons

It does not matter to upper management how hard you work or your great work ethics, or the length of service you have invested, or your ability to get along well with others & are well liked by your fellow associates-when they decide to downsize a department, you are out the door. I do believe age discrimination is high on their priority list. Once you reach your top grade level, are close to retirement and are considered a senior employee, be ware! They will find a reason to lay you off by eliminating positions or changing part time to full time. It has happened twice in 2 years!
