Pros

Security Department is a great place to start your public safety career. Lots of certifications given and most of the staff are retired police officers , so its a great resume builder and networking opportunity. Dealt with the same population as the police did. Definitely a place to learn how verbally deescalate many situations. Management is willing to listen to you if you have problems. If you make the department look good , they will stand by you.

Cons

The rest of the hospital treats you like garbage men; they rile up patients causing a big mess , expect us to clean it up , and criticize us if we don't do to their standards. The ED is the worst when it comes to this. Many strong personalities who can do no wrong in their own minds and criticize everyone else. Politics are present as well. Third shift will cry about everything, first and second shift have a rivalry. Some officers can get away with being unprofessional, other cannot. Pay is ok. The hours could better

Pros

CMC was my first hospital job and I loved it. I loved all of the various experiences that I got to have and learn from. My unit was a large Med/Surg unit with a specialty in Orthopedics. I loved being able to take care of the variety of patients we saw.

Cons

On my unit in particular, staffing has been a major problem. We’re constantly understaffed, making workloads heavy and the shifts chaotic. They’re always offering overtime to try and get staff in to help, and though this is usually a pro, it can also be a con when you expect to be short staffed every day.

Pros

Staff really live out their values, exceptionally kind, competent. Just what you'd want for for a really good community hospital.

Cons

Pay was not competitive with the metro Boston area.
