Pros

I definitely recommend this company if you have friends there. There isn't really a pro to working at Celanese unless you have a connection to one of their white (usually of German origin) higher-up employees.

Cons

Research group members are not knowledgeable or respected in their fields, especially chemistry. On the contrary, they are placed in their respective positions on the basis of their connections. The Asian scientists are now being hired to correspond with their operations in China as part of a deal for doing business there. Every African American person hired there is fired at one point or another. I never knew an African American person who hadn't been fired usually within a period of one year. All the maintenance are of Hispanic origin in the States. Rarely, if ever, a person of Hispanic or African American ethnicity is in any of their Research operations. Pay is low and most of the work is delegated to contract workers. Every person of influence is "white" and not chosen based on his or her abilities or personal achievement.

Pros

Celanese offers competitive salaries and benefits packages. They are very open to allowing to you to move within the company and work in different functional areas or business units. This makes Celanese a great place to expand your professional capabilities. The people are generally positive, professional and good to work with.

Cons

Cost reduction is always a focus. Many people stay on 20+ years and open spots for promotion can be difficult to find.
