Pros

If you enjoy lazy retail sales, talking drama with a coworker while taking out the trash and locking up - this job is for you.

Cons

Commission is on a draw. You make 10.88 An hour, on draw. Therefore, you pay 40x 10.88 per week back before receiving any earned commission. Here’s where it gets tricky, For the first 3 months you get paid no commission. They (management) do this allegedly to “protect themselves” from fraud in the the wireless sales industry. They justify it with paying the highest commission percentages (talking point), yet cut their own legs off in theory w/the draw. After the third month, the large amount of commission you should have made is virtually all taken due to the 3 month draw. So, in “protecting themselves”, the management team makes a killing in the shared commission due to not having to pay commissions for that period. All the while, the employee and their family are starving on 10.88 / hour in the hopes that one day a big commission pay day is coming! What a luxury that self - made insurance policy must be. There are literally companies like Target now that pay a higher wage than Cellular Sales. The top reps will come out right around even after the 3 months and starting on the 4th month can actually start seeing a decent 5k commission before draw. Lower performing reps will actually be stuck in a hole for 5-6, I’ve seen someone for as long as 8 months, unable to start making anything other than their hourly wage do to this commissioned system. Once they do, they’re typically on track to be a 3-3.5k b4 draw earner. So, who’s really profiting off of this “protection”? It’s very sad actually, they’re luring employees by dangling a 60k salary and for 75% it’s a total fantasy. I left and have been making 7750 mon consistently selling cars and absolutely love it. I must say, if you’re an introverted - non popular type person, that’s okay and Cellular Sales may very well serve be a good home for you. If you want to sell & make commissioned money, with the actual ability to do so, Cellular Sales isn’t a good career option for you.
