      It Can't Get Any Worse

      Pros

      Cengage goes through highs and lows like most publishing companies, but some of the pros are: 1. decent work/life balance, depending on who your manager is you will receive assistance when you need it. 2. flexibility and some autonomy regarding decision making 3. Great sales partners and specialists---very knowledgeable folks

      Cons

      1. Poor mid level management (District Manager/Regional Manager level) 2. Favoritism exists big time 3. Salaries are not commensurate with experience and expertise 4. Unrealistic sales goals and goals are received after the selling season is over

      Pros

      Good and regular hours, pleasant people, generally relaxed pace, opportunity to travel, 'safe' job which has lower rate of retrenchment as compared to other industries

      Cons

      Low pay, low or non-existent bonus, poor bonus and promotions structure which doesn't provide incentives to lower-ranking employees, conservative policies especially when it comes to technology

      Pros

      Great place if you're looking for work/life balance.

      Cons

      The wrong people seem to get promoted to management positions more often than not. People wear so many hats, that sometimes you don't know who to go to when you need help. People are also spread so thin, that often nobody wants to be bothered to help each other with issues. There is a big gap between senior management and regular employees. The talent is mishandled.
