Pros

I loved my coworkers and the camaraderie we had. I enjoyed going into work most days. I had the opportunity to work on some big initiatives aimed at helping the company grow. It's an exciting time to be in higher education as more courses adopt digital tools. Upper management is approachable and transparent. Schedule flexibility was never an issue.

Cons

Any large organization that is spread across the country (and world) will struggle with focus and collaboration. There is a concerted effort to unify the ways in which customers interact with Cengage, but it's not quite where it needs to be. There are still many walls (both real and virtual) which cause groups to work in silos but some work has been done to break them down.

Pros

Working at Cengage will differ a great deal depending upon which division you're in. The ed2go is in a transitional phase. While growth used to come easy, it has new competitors. Management is making changes and trying to restart growth. While the changes are challenging, they are creating opportunity.

Cons

If you're not comfortable with change, you may not be comfortable here.

Pros

Amazing group of coworkers. There was an understanding of your role and what it took to get your job done. Work/life balance was never an issue. If you needed time, it was there for you. There were lean times during the bankruptcy, but we always had the tools needed for our job functions.

Cons

Upper management. There always seemed to be the next big thing on how we will function, but never the time to see the results come to fruition. Many could see the ship sinking and priming for going public or sale by how they were eliminating people and departments. No thoughts as to how these decisions impact the broader stability of the company.
