Pros

Decent pay until everyone starts to leave because realize what Centene is all about. Yet Centene still expects the same about of work to be completed with less resources. And the resources quickly get consumed with every new acquisition. A very high tech organization for the healthcare industry.

Cons

Centene expects the same about of work to be completed with less resources. Once another acquisition is completed all resource attention is turn to that plan and your organization will be forgotten about until something goes south. Being at a healthcare insurance plan you would expect good benefits but that is not the case. Just like the patients they give the minimum required by law.

Stuck up CEO/SVPs/VPs

Pros

Salary + bonus was awesome

Cons

It's hell and the leadership expects subservient employees! The higher their rank, the lower you have to bend to honor their level. The CEO thinks he's king and expects everyone to bow, and that culture trickles down. No point in joining a company that is funded by tax payer money and it's leadership is so excessively paid, it's a rip-off to all US tax payers.

Pros

You will make friends for life bonding over a shared experience of trauma.

Cons

The mindset of this company is do first plan later. Leadership never thinks about the end goal but will be rushing you to proceed without providing any guidance on what is needed. This creates a situation where you will constantly be redoing the same project. Turnover is between 25 and 30 percent across the organization and the average employee tenure is around 1 year. Leadership has said on multiple occasions that anyone who leaves the organization is not mentally strong enough to cut it here. On the rare occasions you hear from leadership it will be so they can tell you how much better and smarter they are than you. The amount of money spent on redoing the same project or spent churning out hires is in the billions. The Centene business model is not sustainable and will require serious changes for this company to make it to 2030. But hey, stock price is up so as far as leadership is concerned there are no problems. Don't be one of the 10,000 people who leave every year. Save yourself the heartache. I wish I would have.
