Pros

Flex schedule, work from hone options, good benefits, generous time off

Cons

The company is growing faster than they can handle. It is a huge company and doesn’t feel very personal. It is a mess to try to get a hold of a live person in IT or HR. Corporate is very disconnected from what is done daily. Workloads are unmanageable.

Pros

Centene is a big company

Cons

- Vaccine mandate: Comply or be fired by the end of 2021. - Promotions: They promote from outside the company or not at all, internal talent is largely ignored (see next point). - Chaotic Leadership because of mergers: Acquired company leaders are brought in and everyone has a new direction for a year or so then it recycles and repeats, especially true for the specialty companies. Some get a new CEO almost yearly. Very poor management practice that results in their "new" vision getting ignored because they will be gone in a year anyway. - Everyone is short-staffed and contractors are used to fill the gaps with less than desirable results. - You will have a workload bigger than you can handle - ALWAYS. - Centene is moving from a "Growth by acquisition/merger strategy" to a "streamlining/efficiency strategy" - that's a code word for even more workload and possible layoffs. - if you work in IT you will work almost ALL weekends and holidays - especially competent people. You might think you are getting paid well but after you add up all the hours it's not worth it. - Before Covid Centene was deeply rooted in opposing work from home, Covid forced them to change, They WILL go back to requiring you in the office eventually - there is NO question about that. - The bottom line? Centene is a frustrating employer, with frustrating bureaucratic slowness, frustrating & struggling technology, chaotic leadership with constantly changing vision, and a very high workload for competent employees.

Avoid if you don't want a vaccine mandate

Pros

This was an ok company.

Cons

I hate the direction this company has gone in. They have a vaccine mandate as a general condition of employment--regardless of whether you can work from home or have objections. They had a testing option, but that wasn't woke enough, so they removed it a few weeks after announcing it as an option. They mention the vaccine mandate is in part as a responsibility to the community. It appears our CEO is mandating the vaccine for his is own virtue signal campaign. I am looking for new opportunities for this reason alone. I'm not the only one.
