Pros

The benefits and pay were great if you are hired on prior to 2011. Shortly thereafter they started hiring temps-to-perm and were paying next to nothing in comparison to what they pay the more tenured employees in customer. Centerpoint Energy is an amazing company to work for once you get outside of customer service. The annual bonuses were also a pretty nice perk. They used to be pretty good about giving annual raises but then started cutting back and giving only pennies on the dollar to even the top performers. They lost a lot of good people this way. If you are looking for job security and you have great performance, this a great place to work.

Cons

Shift bids every six months based on performance so if you have a bad streak you could end up with a terrible shift that does not accommodate your needs. If there is ever a state of emergency that causes a power outage for an extended amount of time, prepare to work 12 hours a day in customer service. You will not be allowed to go home, you will have to stay in a hotel nearby the headquarters or a makeshift office that they set up offsite.
