Pros

A lot of autonomy. Able to manage own schedule. 1 on 1 pt care. Rewarding relationships with pts and families and referal sources.

Cons

Lack of management follow through. Everything is always changing. Enduring another company buyout. Years with no raises. Worsening insurance and insurance company changes yearly. HR is very hard to reach and not local.

Pros

Met some great people. Some autonomy, and no micromanagement which is really all the pro that I can say about the job. Mainly because all hospice is generally that way.

Cons

This is the worst job I have ever experienced. The pay is absolutely horrible and varies greatly over the spectrum of nurses. If you come here bargain a lot , you will get it and you will need it. My cons all have to do with the company and management. First, expect to be highly encouraged to keep a patient on and indefinitely and inappropriately. Also, be prepared to be ignored if your patient experiences no decline and you believe they should be live discharged. It's about the bottom dollar for these folks. You are encouraged here to chart generally, no detail as one could interpret either way..my humble opinion is the practice is fraudulent. Meanwhile, staff and management turnover is extreme high and with good reason...you aren't gonna get the training or support you need to be productive. Example, no regular return phone calls if you have questions in the field. When I questioned this practice I was told this was hospice. When I asked for my review of my work and areas I need improvement , I was laughed at and the manager said "this is hospice" "no hospice does that "! I would like to say if you call corporate compliance for any misconduct , it's not anonymous! Retaliation was given. It was known who said and did it and retaliation continued even after that was reported. The things I witnessed here are the most unprofessional of any work force I have ever seen. Also be prepared for much home paperwork, much calling on your time off and very little breaks. Please please future employees do your research.
