My coworkers and I do not feel valued or respected by the company at all. They have been gradually taking away benefits like snow days and school holidays. If the school where I work is closed due to dangerous driving conditions, I am still expected to show up for work or use one of the few sick days I have. I recently spoke with a retired school-based therapist who told me that taking away benefits has been a long-term trend and it seems like Centerstone simply does not want their employees to enjoy working for them anymore. I was not invited to attend a new hire orientation until 3 months after I started, at which point the event was a waste of my time. Almost all of the training sessions I have completed, a few in person but mostly online, were also a waste of my time and irrelevant to my position. The position was advertised as salaried, but I found out after starting that it is basically an hourly job. As a new employee, I was not able to use what little PTO I get for the first three months of employment. We don't get bereavement leave, which I really could have used at one point during those few months due to a family emergency. The pay is not great compared to similar positions elsewhere. As a school-based employee, I do not get paid for two months over the summer and there is no option to spread out paychecks, like some teachers and school staff can.
