A fascinating ride with mild speed bumps along the way

Pros

My fellow peers kept me at my job for they were hilarious, professional (as much as one can be at a grocery store), fun, and courteous to those around them. The pay was decent considering the profession as wages elsewhere are far below Central Market

Cons

Drama central in Leadership positions and if at any point in time one wants to move up....well you better be prepared to be a better politician than Romney.

Pros

I worked with some really terrific people. Most were motivated to work there by a real interest in food rather than just a job. They were interesting and helpful.

Cons

Many of the customers were rude, arrogant and downright unpleasant to be around. They acted as though having money to spend on food made them better than the store employees. There were many people who took gross advantage of the company policies about things like sampling products.

Pros

They have a great environment with an overall solid customer base. The pay is relatively good for the industry. The encourage employees to experience new things. Most of the partners are engaged with the job. Their are many long term employees. Many are invested in the company.

Cons

It is still retail- the schedule and customers can wear you down over time. Management and training is spotty. The pay is average at best. Central Market sometimes feels like an afterthought to HEB.
