Flexible scheduling that’s about it.

Cons

Inexperienced leadership. Disorganized training or no training at all. Completely botched handling of a Kronos outage with zero reconciliation and severely slow or no help from HR. No recruiting to help staffing shortage of >60%.

Pros

Correctional work is a specialty and a great place to work for those who are a good fit. The site has great staff who work together. Pay is comparable for my specific position and they have taken part in market raises.

Cons

Management allows veteran staff to leave rather than negotiate pay. Management has verbalized a disinterest in working to keep exceptional “support” staff. Management would rather pay contract staff at a higher rate than increase salary to retain current, permanent staff. Management expects current staff to work excessively to make up for staffing issues. COVID leave must come out of the employee’s personal PTO bank, despite Correctional settings being highly likely to transmit disease and DOC requiring 10 days off work before return still.

Exceptionally poor treatment of employees by upper management once Centurion decided to leave the Philadelphia Department of Prisons contract.
