Not cooped up in an office. Building relationships with customers is fun. Put in work up front and you can make good money down the road.

Cons

Lots of competition with other reps in the same territory. Constantly have other reps trying to sell into your accounts. Can burn bridges with your customers.

Pros

You get the opportunity to experience the world of sales firsthand and really deal with prospecting and cold calling while receiving a decent salary and compensation. You also get shown exactly how the job is done with an experience professional out in the field.

Cons

If you expect to be educated in how sales works and be eased into a work lifestyle that you may not be accustomed to, then this job may not be for you. Although I knew I was getting into outside sales I didn’t anticipate how different a work/life balance I had to adapt to right from the beginning. This is not a 9-5 job as it requires you to be up early and work until the evening, not including driving times from your designated territory. This job requires you to drive almost your whole day alone and the toll on your personal vehicle is very significant.
