No real cons at all but this position is not for everyone. The company rewards performance and growth - “no ands, ifs, or buts about it”. They truly want everyone they bring on board to be successful but at the end of the day, that will be up to the individual and their ability learn, adapt and adjust to developing what is essentially their own business. Note; the company will always be there to help in the development of key and high potential accounts including flying customers in for manufacturing tours, seminars, social events (like NASCAR) etc.
Even with smaller accounts, you will be assisted regularly in helping open new accounts and expanding product and services within those.
I can’t speak as to why not everyone is successful when they get involved except to say this isn’t for everyone. This way of making a living can be scary - you must have an unwavering belief in your own abilities. You need to trust in the recipe and the guidance the company provides you for success - it’s been proven effective over and over again.
This is not a “product” sales position (like cars or vacuums) where you are incessantly trying achieve quota month after month. It’s Business to Business sales with targets that focus and reflects on the relationship based selling of an extensive and consumable product line. If you understand what that means and the implications, you are way ahead of the game.
No review I read on this site adequately explained the earnings potential, commission structure or expense pay outs. Don’t be swayed by the negativity we see in those reviews. The information is incomplete.
If you are the type of person who is more comfortable with the safety net of an hourly wage, guaranteed salary etc, then this career is not for you. For me, I know month to month the minimum $$$ I will make and can budget accordingly. I’ve learned to do this because of my experience and it’s important to realize that you will learn this too. To help get you over that “Will I make enough money” fear, calculate the minimum you need to make to make ends meet and be forthcoming with your hiring manager. He or she will be able to quickly show you/explain what both you and the company need to do to help ensure you get where you need to be. From there, you will only grow. This company spends a good chunk on training and development and they don’t want to see that go to waste.
Finally, expect to earn what you get out of a career with Certified Labs. There is a great deal of self-learning to be done and as such, you can not expect to be given all the tools, already cleaned and sharpened for you in the first week, month or even year. It’s not 9-5 but it isn’t 24/7 either. You will be able to balance work and life but know that you shouldn’t expect to keep them mutually exclusive of each other all the time.
