Pros
It is, for the most part, a good job. The work hours are stable, and consistent. The pay is reasonable, and the benefits are better than most. The work can be strenuous, or boring at times, but I rarely feel overworked.
Cons
There is a lack of accountability in the labs. There is a noticeable disconnect between the technicians and upper management which leads to sloppy, or slightly chaotic lab environments. Training is sink or swim.. some lab leads (not all) are more interested in making sure the job gets done quickly instead of correctly, They seem to treat asking questions as a form of incompetence, they prefer employees who act like they know what they are doing over those that make sure they know what they are doing. Mistakes go unnoticed and the wrong people get promoted because ignorance is bliss. These issues don't have to affect you, if you just do your job and don't care about the quality of work.
