Pros

The experience and knowledge you get is world class there. You meet some real textbook technicians.

Cons

They complicate working on a car. Especially warranty work (OLH, I'm looking at you) Get prepared to get called an idiot on a daily. Toxic work environment. Management says a lot of sweet nothings when they ask about you.

Good Benefits, Mediocre Company

Pros

John Chapman genuinely believes in taking care of the employees under his Chapman Automotive Group umbrella, therefore there are decent benefits and fringe benefits of CAG's partnerships with other local businesses. You are also likely to get fed for free at least twice a week while working for them.

Cons

In my experience, coming in as a clean slate, totally new to sales employee; training and support for employees is lacking, and often us "green peas" are left to flounder if we cant hang with the senior sales staff. I believe that is partly a symptom of a very rapid turnover rate of management at some of their stores. Anecdotally in the 7 months at my store, I saw no less than 6 sales (desk) managers, a used car manager, and a service manager come and go. Having to reestablish a relationship with a new sales team leader and desk manager does not make for the smoothest of interactions, plus never being *quite* sure who your boss is or who has ultimate authority over a deal makes establishing a strong footing difficult. It feels like trying to build a foundation for a bridge in soft, shifting sands, while the end target on the opposite shore keeps moving.
