Management appears to be hell bent on destroying trust at every angle. They don't operate in profit, so they get funding, and they're stressed beyond belief and take it out on their employees.
They advertise "unlimited time off" and what they mean is 1) never take PTO or we'll hold it against you and 2) when you leave the company, since you didn't have a set number of PTO days, you don't get paid for them. Saves them money, which seems to be all they care about.
They set up "mandatory" meetings that they are late for or skip completely, on the regular. And if they're late, once they arrive, now that they're there, they demand you hurry into their office immediately and "why weren't you there earlier?"
They demand that you ask questions so that you can learn enough to finish the project, and if you ask questions then you aren't smart enough to figure things out on your own and you're on watch and about to be fired.
Also, they throw around the word "fired" (and every other offensive word they can think of) as often as they can.
It's a toxic environment, to say the least.
