      Review of one of the smaller offices in competition practice

      Pros

      Get to develop good skills (SAS, Stata, analytic thinking, attention to detail, etc). Great co-workers. Good work-life balance. Get to work on high profile projects (though not all projects are high profile). Good launchpad for next steps. Very good healthcare benefits.

      Cons

      Work can sometimes be tedious (document review, checking footnotes, etc). Some project managers are better to work with than others. Sometimes have to work long hours or weekends. No compensation for extra hours (this might not be an issue in bigger offices). Pay is below other economic consulting firms.

      Pay is pretty competitive; nice office and location; good benefits; general autonomy on a day-to-day-basis as long as you get the work done

      Cons

      There's a lot of work; a stay-late + face-time culture; work ranges from very dull to somewhat dull; not collaborative typically (mostly work alone all day); consultants don't seem to be too happy/talk too much (however admin groups typically seem quite happy); work hard/go home environment than work hard/play hard; overall it's a job so what can you expect, but I wouldn't expect it to be much more than that despite what HR (who are amazing by the way) may say in the first week's training
