Great at poor management

Pros

Pay can be good if they actually follow their raise schedule. Full benefit package is attractive. There are bonuses available yet the payout from these have decreased over the years.

Cons

Poor safety records. Inability to properly hire enough staff and retain them leading to necessary overtime over long period (sometimes over a year) and consuming your life. They have gutted some of their bonus programs so that they barely payout. HR promotes a toxic environment and enforce programs (i.e. paid family medical leave, worker's comp, dismemberment insurance, etc) in convoluted ways that is detrimental to your family life. They say they promote a family culture but they seem to only want company yes-men. Many recent decisions seem to have had a net negative impact on operations and moral.

Pros

Charter Steel is a phenomenal company who often give back to employees.

Cons

My coworkers had almost zero previous experience in manufacturing which leads to a lack of common sense when it comes to processes. It seemed they were hired because they already knew someone within the company. The attitude of a few was extremely negative and difficult to work with. As a CSA, your only role was to enter order and occasionally ask for status updates from the Planning departs. In the few months that I worked there, Planning never responded to a single status request. Training was not adequate. It was like they didn't really know what they were supposed to be doing either. I was told of stories of interdepartmental bullying that was never addressed by management or HR.
