Pros

Chatham is a solid company with talented people and meaningful work. For the first several years of my time there, I worked under strong managers who trusted their teams, encouraged collaboration, and allowed engineers to operate with autonomy. The culture during that period was supportive, and I felt enabled to do high-quality, impactful work. Overall, the company has a strong foundation and many capable individuals.

Cons

After a reorganization introduced a new QA Manager and Director structure, the experience within QA declined. QA Leadership became highly control-driven, with frequent micromanagement, rigid processes, and an excessive focus on compliance rather than outcomes. Decision-making became centralized, autonomy was reduced, and day-to-day work felt constrained. This shift negatively affected morale, engagement, and overall effectiveness within the QA function.

Pros

Past its prime. Remember when you thought Outback Steakhouse was a great place for dinner? And now you realize that Outback is a dated and tired chain restaurant that’s only idea is to try the same thing again and not listen to employees or customers. So that’s like Chatham - you may work with some great people, and you may meet some great clients, but your management is living in 2010 and so impressed with themselves that they’re not going to listen to you.

Cons

Do you like to be talked down to? Do you like to have no idea what management is thinking? Do you like to know that your CEO now has four houses but no business experience outside of Chatham? Do you like that two managing partners had inappropriate relationships without any consequences for either person? Do you like that another managing partner’s business unit lost millions year after year after year but he kept getting promoted? If you want ambiguity and disingenuous leadership - definitely work at Chatham.
